HERO OR VILLAIN

dramatic superhero cosplay with red and black costume

Anger wells up within me and my perceptions are hazy,

Even the cool twilight resembles the scorching, hot sun.

My stomach churns like a tempestuous sea,

My legs are numb but I would be overjoyed to run.

Beads of cold sweat trickle down my face,

My distressing burden weighs a ton.

Somebody once said that life is a chaotic race,

Run or you’re destined to be trodden upon.

My legs revolt, they disagree to budge,

They refuse to turn away from the dream of my life.

On a different path I painstakingly trudge,

Lest my loved ones are let down in this desperate strife.

Ever since I gulped my first lungful of air,

I have been labelled to become tremendously successful.

However success in the dictionary of social flair,

Is described as being extremely powerful.

What would people say if I revealed my dream?

Of making mother nature my palette and my canvas thin air?

My talent and passion flow like an everlasting stream,

Art and I would form an excellent pair.

I halt in my tracks and turn back towards the start,

My mind is made to take the path of my choice.

Obstacles will definitely stand in my way as I depart,

But my merry soul will most certainly rejoice.

Now as I stand in the midst of success,

I am delighted to have listened to my daring heart.

It has sculpted for me a future of progress,

With which I would at no cost part.

A villain it is in its true sense,

For life to me has not been pathetically good.

Taunts have been the hardest fence,

To cross when I turned back from where I stood.

But it has hardened my delicate crust,

My eyes no more glisten with weak, cowardly tears.

It is what has taught me the importance of trust,

And hence it is a scarlet caped hero that has evaporated all my fears.
